BROTHER DR. JAMES TISDALE

Dr. James Lee Tisdale Jr. (LCADC, Ph.D., University of Phoenix, 2018) is Special
Needs Coordinator/ Complex Case Manager with Priority Partners at John Hopkins Health Plans.
In this position, Dr. Tisdale is the point of contact for healthcare service information for special needs populations. He works with health care providers across departments to increase multicultural awareness and provide support for special needs populations, this includes providing education and support to meet American with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations. Dr. Tisdale has worked to reorganize standard operating procedures to make integrated health care more efficient for special needs populations and developed a community network of resources for managed care organization members. Dr. Tisdale works with community agencies to improve lead prevention, eradicate homelessness, and provide addiction support. He is the liaison for ACCU and Match Program; he is the facilitator of the Priority Partners Consumer Advisory Board. The Consumer Advisory Board meets every other month and discusses issues such as how health disparities are affected by biopsychosocial factors.
Dr. Tisdale's cross-disciplinary research focuses barriers to healthcare access, with an emphasis on the integration of mental health and substance abuse care. His previous research has examined manage care organizations executive's perceptions of integrated care, including the factors that promote integrated care and challenges to successful integrated care. Through this work, Dr. Tisdale was able to identify barriers to integrated care and identify best practices for reducing those barriers. The goal of Dr. Tisdale's research is to help healthcare service professionals to comprehend the lived experiences of others in their field, thereby creating an inclusive environment and improved integrated care. Dr. Tisdale has experience grant writing within these areas of research.
Dr. Tisdale gives regular talks, in-person and in webinar formats, on mental health, community engagement, and community health support. Some topics Dr. Tisdale has presented on topics that include: integrated care, person-centered care, organizational change, managed care program direction, social services for vulnerable populations, and social and healthcare services for over treated or undertreated populations. Dr. Tisdale is a regular presenter at the Maryland mental health conference that takes place in April during Mental Health Awareness
In addition to being a licensed clinical professional counselor, Dr. Tisdale is a member of
Chi Sigma Iota, National Honor Society for Professional Students, and the National Rehabilitation Association. He also holds a Practice Leadership Advanced Certification through the National Society of Leadership and Success and is the Director of Education for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Dr. Tisdale has been a proud member since 1999.
